About the BSN-DNP NNP Track

The BSN-DNP Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) track is designed for NICU nurses and is led by active nurse practitioners. The hands-on clinical training and observation take place at neonatal intensive care units of a variety of hospitals throughout the State of Indiana, including the NICUs of Riley Children’s and St. Vincent Hospitals. These two organizations are the Level IV units in Indiana and are nationally recognized.

Track Length & Format

The BSN-DNP NNP track offers full and part-time options. A full-time plan is 3 years, and a part-time plan is 4 years. Part-time employment during this track is possible, with some flexibilities required for clinical hours once the clinical sequence begins.

The track is offered in cohorts. Core and specialty courses are available online, making it very flexible to fit your busy lifestyle. Our online program is one of very few that offers synchronous virtual classes that resemble a traditional face-to-face approach highly valued by employers. On-campus clinical intensive will teach our students health assessment skills and clinical procedures.

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Courses

The BSN-DNP NNP curriculum consists of 24 courses, including clinical courses and completion of a DNP project under the guidance of a faculty mentor. All clinical work is focused on applying what you learn in class to clinical practice. Each student has an assigned advisor who is a seasoned NNP with both clinical and academic credentials.

For questions about degree plans, please reach out to the Admissions Team.

The educational standards and curriculum guidelines for the track adhere to the standards set by the National Association of Neonatal Nurses, the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
