International Students: Master's & Doctoral Degrees
The University of Indianapolis offers graduate degrees in a number of programs, and program-specific admission requirements are posted at Master's and Doctoral programs.
Additional Admission Requirements for International Students
- Transcripts and credential evaluation reports:
- You are required to submit an official course-by-course credential evaluation report of your transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you have attended outside the United States. You may select any credential evaluation service listed as a current member of NACES or AICE. Once you have chosen an evaluation service, follow instructions on their site regarding how to submit your transcripts. Please have the evaluation service send an official course-by-course credential evaluation report of your transcripts directly to the University of Indianapolis.
- IEE, a member of NACES, is our recommended international transcript evaluation service. They have created a custom application for UIndy Graduate Programs that ensures you select the appropriate type of evaluation at a discounted rate. You can access their application here: IEE UIndy Graduate Programs Landing Page
- English proficient examination results
- Students for whom English is a second language are required to submit TOEFL iBT or IELTS score reports. The University of Indianapolis institutional minimum is 79 although individual graduate programs may have higher proficiency requirements. The admissions counselor or program director for your major can provide program-specific requirements.
- Please have official TOEFL (UIndy code 1321) or IELTS results sent directly to the University of Indianapolis from the examination service. Photocopies are not acceptable. When you register for TOEFL, you will need to enter a department code.
- Certification of finances (Students applying for visas only)
- For applicants who need a student visa, we require documentation of adequate funds to cover all expenses during the course of study. You will need to demonstrate that you have resources equal to the cost of tuition, fees, housing, food, books, supplies, medical insurance, personal expenses and any emergencies for one year. Costs vary by program. Please contact your graduate admissions counselor to receive a Statement of Financial Support form.
- Copy of passport identity page (student applying for F-1 Student Visas only)
Tuition and Cost for International Students
It is important for all students to consider the cost of pursuing an advanced degree. While international students are not eligible to apply for federal student loans, UIndy works hard to remain affordable and accessible to students all over the world. At University of Indianapolis, there is no out-of-state tuition. This means we charge the same set rate for all of our students, whether they come from Indiana or from across the globe.
Tuition varies by program. You can view graduate tuition rates to help calculate how much it will cost to attend UIndy. If you have any questions about calculating your individual costs, please contact your graduate admissions counselor.
Graduate Programs Offering I-20
In order to study in the United States, you must obtain an I-20 and an F-1 visa. To qualify for an I-20 as a graduate-level student, you must be admitted to one of the approved programs below, and you must provide UIndy with your required financial documentation.
At the Master’s and Ph.D. level, only the programs below can provide an I-20. Programs that are fully online and programs that are not degree-granting cannot provide an I-20. International students can complete most online programs from their home country; please speak with your admission counselor about specific programs and their requirements.
