Transfer to UIndy

Making your transfer as easy as possible.

Making The Move To UIndy

Everything you need to start the transfer process to UIndy will stem from this page. If you have additional questions, our Transfer Admissions Counselor is available to walk you through the transfer steps, connect you to the campus community and resources, and make sure you're on track to graduate.

Transferring from Ivy Tech or Vincennes University?

If you're a current or former Ivy Tech or Vincennes University student interested in transferring to UIndy, we've made it extremely easy to do so.

What Are The Admissions Criteria?

To be eligible for full-time admission, you must have completed at least 12 college credits and have earned at least a C average (2.0 cumulative GPA). If you've earned less than a C average or have been on social probation, UIndy might consider some type of admission on an individual basis. Special admission will be based on exceptional high school merit and, generally, if you have been out of school for one semester or more.

What If I Am Still Enrolled Elsewhere?

A tentative admission decision or provisional admission can be offered based upon an official transcript with a C average or better. (A final official transcript must be submitted after the end of the semester and you must maintain a C average or better to earn full admission.) By earning provisional admission, you can have credits evaluated, register for classes, and seek financial assistance.

What Credits Will Transfer?

A credit evaluation report will be completed within two to three weeks of acceptance to UIndy and will be included in your admissions packet. Generally, for credits to transfer to the University of Indianapolis, you must have:

  • Attended a regionally accredited college.
  • Earned a “C-” grade or better in a course applicable to a program of study offered at UIndy, except for an English composition course, which requires an earned grade of C or above.

You will work closely with your advisor to make sure you have the best chance of completing your education on time.

IUPUI, Ivy Tech, and Vincennes University students may check to see which courses might transfer using our Transfer Equivalency Application.

How Do I Apply?

It's easy and free to apply! Just follow these three steps:

  1. Fill out our online application.
  2. Send your official college and high school transcripts in one of the following ways:
    1. Ask your current or previous institution to mail official transcripts to University of Indianapolis, ATTN: Admissions Office, 1400 E. Hanna Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46227
    2. Ask your current or previous institution if it has an electronic transcript ordering system. Transcripts can be sent electronically to undergradtranscripts@uindy.edu.
  3. Complete the FAFSA. If you have already completed the FAFSA, you will need to revise it by adding UIndy's school code, which is 001804.

Once your application is complete and we have received all your transcripts, we will make a decision within one to two weeks.

Does UIndy Offer Transfer Scholarships?

Yes! UIndy offers substantial scholarship awards to transfer students, based on academic achievement. Awards and scholarships are renewable for up to six semesters.

Can I Live On Campus?

We absolutely encourage transfer students to live on campus. There's no better way to get immersed in campus life and get to know your fellow Greyhounds. If you plan to enroll full time, you can live in one of our six residence halls or three University apartments. Campus housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis with a $50 deposit.

The number one thing that influenced my decision to attend UIndy is the family-friendly environment you feel whenever you walk through the campus, and the transferring of credits is great. All of my credits transferred and satisfied many requirements for my program. I think UIndy is one of few schools that allows all the credits to transfer.
