It's a lot of hands-on and you get to apply the skills you're actually learning in class. It was easier for me to make the connection from the DesignSpine curriculum to what I'm doing in my internship.
Welcome to the R.B. Annis School of Engineering, home to ABET accredited and rapidly growing engineering programs at the University of Indianapolis. To address Indiana’s increasing demand for skilled engineers and STEM-related professions, we now offer seven specialized areas of study in the exciting and fast-growing fields: Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Computer Science, and General Engineering.
UIndy is one of few schools in the region to offer these unique and innovative programs, which will provide you with authentic design opportunities through our multidisciplinary DesignSpine experience, invigorated by a strong general education core that develops well-rounded professionals.
Welcome to the R. B. Annis School of Engineering at the University of Indianapolis!
We believe UIndy engineering is one of the most innovative engineering programs nationwide. Our faculty members embody an attitude of service to our students and partners. We will work with our students as they explore and experience engineering. We ensure that our students are involved in engineering projects from the beginning of their program. Our students will learn to become problem solvers. We are growing and expanding into the new R. B. Annis Hall, allowing our student teams more resources.
Our students will experience real-world problems and work for real customers in our four-year DesignSpine program. Students will work in teams and engage with their customer and faculty advisors to design project solutions in a curriculum that emphasizes leadership and entrepreneurship. These, along with effective communication and strong technical skills, define the characteristics of the engineer sought after by employers.
At UIndy, we also know that there is more to you than a series of engineering courses. We strive to prepare our graduates to be effective members of their community with an appreciation for service and discovery. We will work tirelessly to prepare our students to be successful engineers and successful members of society. We will welcome you into a true community. Whether that means a community of engineers, a community of Greyhounds, or a smaller community of your engineering team, it definitely means a community where you will be valued and supported.
Welcome!
The curriculum emphasizes project-oriented courses integrated with hands-on experiences. Students who study a broader variety of subjects develop valuable communication skills such as business and technical writing, public speaking and presentation readiness. This unique educational experience encourages students to immerse themselves in the engineering world by challenging themselves to think bigger, imagine greater and continuously work to improve and expand their knowledge.
