The Music Therapy Center provides music-based therapeutic services to members of the university and the surrounding community, located in Martin Hall at the University of Indianapolis. All services are supervised by a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) and may be facilitated by advanced music therapy students completing their clinical training. Student observers may also be present as part of their educational experience.
- Weekly 50-minute sessions (minimum commitment: approximately 15 weeks)
- Individual sessions and small group sessions (as interest allows)
Personalized care, including:
- Initial assessment
- Treatment plan with specific goals
- Ongoing evaluation of progress
Music therapy may be helpful for individuals of all ages who want support with:
- Managing stress or anxiety.
- Improving communication or social interaction skills.
- Supporting emotional expression and well-being.
- Enhancing motor skills or physical rehabilitation.
- Increasing focus, attention, or memory.
- Coping with life changes or grief.
- Building self-confidence and self-awareness.
No musical experience is needed—just an openness to engage with music as a tool for growth and healing.
Session Details
- When: Weekly sessions
- Length: 50 minutes
- Cost: $790 per semester, with scholarships available for those who may qualify
- Duration: Minimum commitment of one semester (approximately 15 weeks)
- What: Therapeutic music experiences will be tailored to each individual and may include songwriting, improvisation, listening, and creating music through singing, movement, and instrument playing.
