Emergency Disaster Management (EDM) in Long Term Care
Offered by a partnership between the University of Indianapolis Center on Aging and Community and the Indiana State Department of Health, long term care (LTC) administrators and directors of nursing will gain a deeper understanding of the emergency management process through the four phases:
- Preparedness
- Response
- Planning
- Mitigation
Through the use of tabletop exercises, small group discussion, online discussion forums, and traditional content delivery, students will have hands-on opportunity to demonstrate the ability to understand risk, identify appropriate response strategies, and ability to implement Emergency Action Plans with key resources identified.
Students will have face-to-face time with experienced professionals to improve Emergency Action Plans from day one to day two and ensure Emergency Action Plans and implementation are exceeding Center for Medicare and Medicaid standards in emergency management.
CEUs will be available for LTC administrators and social workers.
Previously, the workshop was offered in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne. The next offering of EDM in Long Term Care will take place in Evansville, Indiana on September 10 & 24.
