Resources for High School Counselors
UIndy recognizes that your impact on the student journey during the college selection process is profound. It's critical that you are equipped with information to help students navigate their college search. Below is some valuable information designed to help you have meaningful conversations with your students about the University of Indianapolis.
Why UIndy?
Our academic philosophy is simple: each student is at the center of their education. At UIndy, education and service are intertwined across every program. Both matter when it comes to inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.
With 90 majors, small class sizes, and a close connection to the Indianapolis community, UIndy offers students a safe, welcoming, and academically-challenging place to call home as they learn, serve and grow. When a student is accepted at UIndy, they become part of something bigger than themselves. They become part of a close-knit community of students, faculty, and staff who truly care about their success.
Your students can choose from over 70 registered student organizations to get involved with. They can live in one of six on-campus residence halls and apply to become a member of a Living-Learning Community. From day one, we are passionate about helping every student Find Their Fit at UIndy.
UIndy is home to 25 NCAA Division II sports teams, and 17 of them qualified for postseason play in the last year. Our live mascot program features Grady the Greyhound, a retired racer from Florida who moved to Indianapolis in 2019. Go Hounds!
How Do My Students Apply?
Applying to UIndy is easy. UIndy is on a rolling admission, so your students can submit their application as early as August 1 of their senior year. There is no deadline to apply.
We recommend you encourage your students to:
- Come for a visit to meet their counselor and get to know UIndy during their junior year of high school.
- Submit their free online application during their senior year of high school, preferably before November 1.
- Submit their official or unofficial transcripts to UIndy after they complete their application. We accept transcripts via Parchment, Naviance, or by email to undergradtranscripts@uindy.edu.
- Submit their FAFSA early, preferably by Winter Break of their senior year. The FAFSA is due no later than April 15 for Indiana residents. For more information, check out our “Steps to Apply for Financial Aid” page.
- Attend a Preview Day for their specific major of interest or another on-campus event during their senior year.
- After they have applied and been accepted to UIndy, students can pay their deposit online once they receive the deposit information email to secure their spot.
UIndy is Test-Optional
As part of our mission at the University of Indianapolis, we're committed to fostering an admissions policy that provides a flexible and holistic admissions process. Therefore, UIndy is a test-optional university which means students do not need to provide standardized test scores, like SAT/ACT, to be considered for admittance to UIndy.
