Resources for Faculty & Staff

UIndy faculty and staff may experience many challenges to their daily operations. In this section, we provide you with resources you can use for yourself or with your students to manage the stressors. This resource page provides information on common potential mental health impacts you may see in yourself and students and gives some tips for addressing those concerns and guidelines for what to do.

In addition, our staff provides consultation to faculty and staff when they are concerned about a student’s mental health and uncertain how best to proceed. If you are in need of consulting with a staff member regarding a student in distress, please call 317-788-5015 and request to speak with a staff member. If it is not urgent, please request to schedule a consultation appointment.

TimelyCare is also available for 24/7 guidance on how to support a student in need of care. Access their Faculty/Staff Support at anytime by calling 833-4-TIMELY (833-484-6359), ext. 2.

We also recommend that you visit the Accessing Mental Health Services Off Campus and Mental Health Tips & Resources in the Resources for Students section for additional information.

Upcoming Workshops for Faculty & Staff

Learning opportunities to empower and support our students are available through an introductory mental health & wellness training designed specifically for faculty and staff. Poor classroom performance due to student mental health concerns present unique challenges to educators and staff in promoting positive learning environments.

This basic training equips you with essential knowledge and skills to better understand and support students facing mental health challenges.  Attending to students’ needs more holistically and fostering the well-being of our students is a collective responsibility and we are committed to working together to create a nurturing and effective learning environment. Participants will gain skills in:

  • Recognizing signs of student mental health distress
  • Effectively using strategies and tips for assisting students in need
  • Identifying resources and appropriate referrals for on-campus support
  • Fostering a more inclusive and supportive learning environment

For departments interested in scheduling this customized training, please contact us using our Outreach Request form and ask for our Mental Wellness Toolkit training.
