  • Available to students who have earned a BSW within the past five years from an accredited CSWE program
  • Choose a concentration (see above) when applying to the program, then advance directly to your chosen concentration.

  • Prepare for culturally responsive practice with families and children. Patients will primarily be served in public and private social-service agencies, child-welfare agencies, schools, clinics and other settings
  • Learn advanced clinical practice skills, including
    • evidence-based assessment and intervention theories
    • skills focused on building individual, family and community strengths
    • promoting the safety, permanence and well-being of children, families and communities
  • Discover the impact of social work while advocating for children, families and communities. Macro-level practice is highlighted in this concentration.
  • Complete a minimum of 620 practicum hours in this concentration.
  • Practicum placements may include schools, not-for-profit agencies that serve children and families, governmental agencies, and child and family advocacy organizations.
  • Become equipped to meet the requirements for a practicum necessary to receive the Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) license.
  • Prepare for culturally responsive practice in a wide variety of mental health and addiction settings.
  • Study various intervention practices, such as motivational interviewing and cognitive therapies, and utilization of a number of assessment tools.
  • Practicum placements could include inpatient and outpatient addiction-treatment providers, as well as macro placements in advocacy and education.
  • Complete a minimum of 620 practicum hours in this concentration.
  • Become equipped to meet the requirements for a practicum necessary to receive the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license.
  • Also become equipped to meet the requirements for the Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC) credential in the state of Indiana.
  • Concentration available to those students considering participation in the Community Behavioral Health Academy. This practicum placement focuses on assessing and treating co-occurring diagnoses and could include possible placement within Community's network. Possible placement areas in the Academy are inpatient, outpatient, schools, crisis centers, and working with the seriously mental ill in community-based settings. The Academy placement includes a stipend.

This certificate equips students with foundational and applied knowledge in trauma-informed care and resilience. It is ideal for students interested in behavioral health, youth services, or any clinical setting where trauma is prevalent.

Available to students in the Children, Family, and Community (CFC) concentration, this certificate prepares graduates to practice in PK–12 educational settings and pursue licensure in school social work.
