Frequently Asked Questions
No! We provide drop-in tutoring – no appointments needed. You can visit anytime help is available for your course (see hours above).
Yes, we offer a limited appointment schedule. This is in addition to our regular drop-in tutoring. You can book an appointment between 7 days and 6 hours in advance. You may book up to two appointment slots per week – if you need a longer appointment, you can book them back-to-back.
If you don’t see any available appointments, please check back – you can book between 7 days and 6 hours in advance. In the meantime, you can visit us for drop-in tutoring instead!
We can provide help in whatever way works best for you. You are welcome to arrive with questions ready to ask a tutor, or you can do your homework in the lab and ask for help if you are having trouble. Bring a friend/classmate to study with you! We won’t do your assignments for you, but we can provide as much help and support as you need. Tutors will be sitting with a stand-up nameplate to identify them and the courses they can help with.
The Math Tutoring Lab drop-in tutoring is free and unlimited for UIndy students!
We are not open before 2 p.m. ET. However, if our hours don’t work for you, we may be able to refer you to another instructor’s office hours for help. Contact Luanne Benson-Lender (bensonlenderl@uindy.edu).
There are some topics from classes like MATH 108, MATH 150, MATH 195, and MATH 208/209/210 that other tutors may be able to help with, and there may be instructors we can refer you to. Talk to your math instructor or email Luanne (bensonlenderl@uindy.edu) for more information.
No, we do not provide tutoring online at this time.
We are closed when the University has no classes: certain holidays, breaks, and any inclement weather days. The day before a break we will close at 5 p.m. ET (for example, Tuesday before Thanksgiving break, or Thursday before Good Friday). We are also closed on Sundays that are a holiday or part of a break (like Fall Break, Thanksgiving, and Easter).
When we need more tutors, an application is posted on Handshake. The tutoring schedule is usually set before the semester starts, so check early!
