Adult Learning Programs Online and Hybrid Courses

In addition to standard face-to-face formats, Accelerated Adult Learning Programs offer online and hybrid options for students in the programs. Online courses are offered in synchronous or asynchronous formats. Synchronous classes require students and instructors to be online at the exact same time since lectures, discussions, and presentations take place at specific hours. Asynchronous classes let students complete their work on their own time, but within assigned time frames as established by the instructors.

Hybrid courses are a mix of face-to-face and online formats. The mix is determined by the instructor and the specific course. For instance, an eight week session ranges from one face-to-face class with seven meetings online all the way up to seven face-to-face classes with one meeting online. The mix for any given hybrid course will be indicated in the syllabus provided by the instructor.

Students interested in learning more about online and hybrid courses should discuss with the Adult Learning Programs Academic Advisor, Kathy Hancher, via email at ksimpher@uindy.edu or at 317-788-3393.
