Class of 2020-2024

  • Tiffany Friend ’20 was promoted to Area Vice President of Business Development at Gentiva Hospice in Indianapolis, IN. 
  • David Logan ’20 was recognized as part of the 2026 Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's Men Silver Anniversary Team.

Class of 2010-2019

  • Jordan Tiegs ’10, ’13 was promoted to Bullpen Coach for the Texas Rangers. He credits Gary Vaught, Al Ready, and Sue Willey for giving him his start through UIndy’s Graduate Assistant program, where he earned his master’s degree and discovered his passion for coaching. He remains grateful for the opportunities and foundation UIndy provided.
  • Jenna Whalen ’14 received a Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential and joined the Indiana Society of Association Executives Board of Directors.
  • Andrew Engelmann 14 was promoted to Internal Controls and Compliance Leader for the Chemours Company, a publicly traded and leading global provider of performance chemicals.

  • Jenn Meadows 14 graduated with a Master's degree in Master's in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from Dominican University (River Forest, IL) in August 2025. Meadows is now working as a children's librarian in River Forest, IL. 

  • William Cowger ‘14, ’16 received a promotion from Physical Therapist to Rehab Program Manager of Heritage Woods of Noblesville, an assisted living and memory care facility. 
  • Katie Meguschar ‘15 has been hired as School Principal of Curtis Wilson Primary School and Academy for the 2025-2026 school year.
  • Harry Dickson ’16 received his Masters of Public Administration from IU O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and was promoted to Senior Government Affairs Associate at Dant Advocacy in Indianapolis.
  • Brantley Armour ‘16 was honored as a member of the Conexus Indiana Rising 30 Class of 2025, recognizing emerging leaders in Indiana’s advanced manufacturing and logistics industries. The Rising 30 distinction highlights young professionals who are making significant contributions to innovation and growth in Indiana’s economy.

  • Brandon Doty ‘17 graduated in May from UIndy with an MA in Applied Sociology and is the Assistant Director of Admission, Transition Specialist at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN.
  • Jacqueline Wiernicki ’19, a music teacher at Central Elementary in Lebanon, IN, was recently recognized by the CFP Foundation and awarded funding for new instruments during the College Football Playoff Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium. 

Class of 2000-2009 

  • Matt Holmes ’02 was recently promoted to associate director of media coordination and statistics at the NCAA. Matt serves as media coordinator for the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, in addition to being part of the media coordination team for the Men's Final Four and managing national statistics for Division I FBS and FCS football statistics. 

  • Lisa Clark ’02 graduated from United Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg, PA with a Master of Divinity degree in May 2025. 
  • Sarah Pond (‘04 & ‘06) has been promoted to Purchasing Manager at manufacturing company, Major Tool & Machine.
  • Joshua Reichart ’08 was recently elected to serve as President of the Indiana State Festivals Association Board for the upcoming term. The 2025 500 Festival season will be Joshua’s 18th season since starting a full-time position after graduating from the University of Indianapolis in 2008.
  • Tim Lory ‘09 recently accepted a new position as a Treasury Operations Analyst for Ren.
  • Zachary Rodgers ’09 was recently named Executive Vice President of Indiana Right to Life and CEO of Right to Life of Northeast Indiana. 

Class of 1990-1999

  • John Duffy ’91 was promoted to Managing Director at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. In addition, he began a three-year term on the Morgan Stanley Financial Advisor Advisory Council. John presently serves as President of the Indiana High School Lacrosse Association as well as various volunteer capacities with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
  • Wendy Whedon 93 was named Griffin-Spalding County Schools 2025 School Counselor of the Year. 

  • Kimberly Hilton ‘94 retired from Ivy Tech Community College, but continues to teach part-time online.
  • David Lannan ’96 was recently invited to serve on the Board of Directors at The Branson Opry, a new venue scheduled to launch in early 2026 . His responsibilities will include public relations and graphic design. 
  • Beenu Sikand ’99 recently graduated from the THRIVE program, and is proud to be a SBA THRIVE alumnus. 
  • Oz Lindley '99, has been appointed Managing Director, Business Development at Pathward. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President/Managing Director at Cadence Bank. Lindley is actively involved in industry associations, including Turnaround Management Association, Secured Finance Network, Association for Corporate Growth, and the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors.

  • Dave Poncar ‘99 has retired from teaching after 41 years as a HS/JHS/MS Band Director. His career took him on a tour of east-central Indiana, with stops at Howe HS, Triton Central, Rushville Consolidated Elementary, Morristown, and the 29 years as Director of Bands for Greenfield. 

  • Danny Struck ‘99 recently published Climbing for Gold: Experiencing the World Through Wrestling, a memoir chronicling his 27-year coaching and teaching journey across 30+ countries and 6 continents. The book features stories about wrestling, education, and international travel—many rooted in his time at UIndy, which he proudly calls “the Harvard of the Midwest.” Danny currently coaches wrestling, football, and strength and conditioning at Jeffersonville High School in Indiana. He has earned 30 Coach of the Year awards and has been inducted into three halls of fame. 

Class of 1980-1989

  • Suzanne (Herrick) Walker ‘86 started a new position as Provost of Marietta College. 
  • Kate (Shrake) Kuehn ’89 was sworn in on December 20, 2024 as a judge for Superior Court One in Hendricks County, IN.

Alysa Eberhardt (Epperson) '21 was recently promoted to Director of Plant Operations for Goodwill Commercial Services 38th and Sheridan location.

Class of 2000-2009

  • Elizabeth Ramsey '01 serves as the Executive Director of Team USA’s Athletes’ Commission for both the Olympics and Paralympics and attended this year’s Paris Olympics.
  • Jessica Niehaus (Trent) '08 opened her own mental health private practice along with her husband called Therapy Haus Behavioral Health, LLC serving all in central Indiana and accepting all insurances.

Class of 1980-1989

  • Kimberly “Kim” Taylor '85 has spent two years working at the United States Tennis Association Midwest Section main office in Indianapolis, IN.
  • Tami Clark (Schlicher) '84 retired this spring after a 39 1/2 year social work career in health care.
  • Norma Dartis (Cox) '86 was selected to serve as Grand Boule' 2024 Co-Marshal for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. 

Class of 1970-1979

  • Nancy Tolson (Richison) '70 was honored to be announced as the first member to be awarded the Legacy Award for her work at the Indiana Retired Teachers’ Association.

Class of 1960-1969

  • James Ton '68 was re-elected as 2024 President of the Chesterton Town Council and was appointed as a 2024 Porter County Trustee - Recycling and Waste Reduction Commission.

  • John R. Hendry '20, '21 has been hired as an assistant coach for the University of South Carolina baseball team in Columbia, SC.
  • Dr. Suzanne O'Neal '20 received the University of South Florida School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences Alumni Award for Outstanding Research in October 2023.
  • Nathaniel D. "Nate" Weber '20, '21 is an assistant coach for the men's lacrosse team at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN.
  • Abigail E. Lagos '20, '22 is the new assistant coach of the women's lacrosse team at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA.
  • Tyrah E. "Koukouy" Chery '20 has been hired as the new reference librarian and special collections archivist at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA.
  • Elysse C. Petrie '21 is the new assistant softball coach at Kent State University in Kent, OH, where she will work primarily with the pitching staff.
  • Kacey L. Dalpes '21 has been hired as the new assistant coach at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA.
  • Sydnie E. Foster '21, '22 assistant softball coach at Trine University in Angola, IN, has been honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as part of the NCAA Division III National Coaching Staff of the Year.
  • Chance F. Newkirk '21 has been hired as an athletic trainer at Columbus North High School in Columbus, IN.
  • Kristen Brown '21 is an assistant athletic trainer at Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY, where she will work with the Bearcat volleyball team and the swimming and diving program.
  • Noah Crenshaw '21 has been promoted from news reporter to new editor at the Daily Journal in Franklin, IN.
  • Jayden R. Kennett '21 has been hired as a reporter for the Daily Journal in Franklin, IN.
  • Loren Strickland '21 has signed as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League.
  • Dr. Adam Steuer '21 was the first author of two manuscripts published in the Occupational Therapy Journal of Research and the Occupational Therapy in Health Care in 2023.
  • Dr. Aimee Dietsch '21 co-authored a manuscript with Dr. Lisa Borrero et al pending publication in the Qualitative Health Research Journal.
  • Dr. Dawn Drumm '21 had three poster presentations accepted based on dissertation work. They were accepted by the Combined 11th Australasian Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine in 2022, the Third International Alliance of Academics of Childhood Disability Conference in 2022 and the Combined Sections 2023 American Physical Therapy Conference. In addition she has taught a pediatric course in the DPT program at North Central College.
  • Katherine E. "Katie" Mitchell '21 is the new head coach of the women's soccer team in Wingate University in Wingate, NC.
  • Toriano D. Clinton, Jr. '22 has been signed by the Indianapolis Colts as a running back. He finished his career at UIndy with 4,538 rushing yards and 48 touchdowns in 43 games.
  • Mason G. Sterns '22 has joined Christchurch United Football Club, a professional soccer team in New Zealand.
  • Jacob Christie '22 enrolled in a 52-week Administrator in Training program in Annapolis, MD which will culminate in becoming a licensed Nursing Home Administrator.
  • Dr. Patricia Holmes '22 was published in the Gerontologist.
  • Caitlin C. Elson '23 will join the athletic training staff at Marion University in Indianapolis on July 1, 2024. She currently works at Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY.
  • Dr. Kelly F. Sky-Eagle '23 is an assistant professor of dietetics at the University of Arkansas in Jonesboro, AR. Her research interests are specific to diabetes management, relating directly to her work as a certified diabetes care and education specialist in her clinical practice.
  • Stephanie M. Schultz '24 nursing professional development medical-surgical specialist at Parkview Health in Fort Wayne, IN, has been honored as "Indiana's 2024 Nursing Educator of the Year" by the Indiana Nurses Foundation.

 

Class of 2010-2019

  • Jennifer J. "Jenn" Horn '10 is interim director of the honors program and themed living communities (TLCs) at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, IN.
  • Casey M. Gillin '10 former coordinator at UIndy and former head coach at Indian Creek High School in Trafalgar, IN, is the new offensive coordinator at Mooresville High School in Mooresville, IN, where his father, William, is the head coach.
  • Scott H. Sell '10 director of business development at Williams Bros. Health Care Pharmacy in Washington, IN has been inducted into the Marquis Who's Who biographical registry.
  • Myla D. Edmond '11 has been selected to serve as the next interim vice chancellor for strategic communications at UNC Greensboro. Most recently she was senior vice president at the RW Jones Agency. She has also served as associate vice president of communications and marketing at California State University Dominguez Hills.
  • Christina Michel '12 has completed her Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.
  • Paul G. Corsaro '12, '14 former head coach of the men's basketball team at UIndy, has been hired as the new head coach at IU Indianapolis.
  • Emilee J. Smith '12, '13 former events manager at UIndy, has been promoted to partner at London Witte LLP in Indianapolis.
  • Samatha S. Searls '12 program director at Ignite Peace in Cincinnati, OH, has been honored as one of the 2023 "Women of the Year" by the Cincinnati Enquirer. She leads immigration justice work and facilitates nonviolence and anti-racism educational programming at the organization.
  • Chad Peterman '14, CEO of Peterman Brothers in Greenwood, IN, has been honored by Ernst & Young as one of the "Midwest Entrepreneurs of the Year" for 2023
  • Ethan Bean '14 has been appointed by the Senate of Maryland to serve on the Advisory Committee of Archaeology.
  • Ethan S. Bean '14, '15, archaeologist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has been appointed by the Senate of Maryland to serve on the "Advisory Committee of Archaeology."
  • Reece M. Horn '15 has joined the Vienna Vikings football team in Vienna, Austria, as a wide receiver for the remainder of the 2024 season of the European League of Football.
  • Erin Gahimer '15 graduated with her doctorate in Global Studies in Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's College of Education on Sunday, May 12, 2024. She successfully defended her dissertation in March after conducting her fellowship-funded, qualitative field work in Cordoba, Argentina in June 2023.
  • Caleb C. Logan '15 has been hired as an assistant principal at Whitko Junior/Senior High School in Laurel, IN.
  • Dr. Tatiana A. Zhuravleva, '15, '17 is an assistant professor of kinesiology at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX.
  • Patrick T. Haney '16 is the new executive director of the East Central Educational Service Center (ECESC) in Connersville, IN, effective October 23, 2023.
  • Jessica A. Neill '16 is the new principal at New Palestine Junior High School in New Palestine, IN.
  • Kathryn T. "Katie" Crump '16 has been inducted into the Delaware County Hall of Fame. She was a standout soccer and track & field athlete in high school and college.
  • Trevor D. Forde '16, '18, former assistant coach of the UIndy baseball team, has been hired as the new head coach at the University of Illinois Springfield.
  • Chantel E. Heinsen '17 is a partnership activation coordinator for the Indianapolis Indians. She has served in this capacity since mid-April. Previously, she worked at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Indiana Pacers and the Special Olympics.
  • Selenay Heper '17 is the new head coach for men's and women's tennis at Purdue University Northwest in Hammond, IN.
  • Daniel R. Miller ‘18 is the new director of government affairs at Indiana American Water in Greenwood, IN.
  • Kylen J. Butler '18 is the new assistant coach of the men's basketball team at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL.
  • Kellie McIntyre '18 has been hired as the new principal at CSA Fodrea Elementary School in Columbus, IN effective July 1, 2024.
  • Derek J. Magee '19, CPA has been promoted to manager of assurance services at Donovan CPAs in Indianapolis.
  • Dr. Traci Garrison '19 dissertation work was accepted for publication in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy in 2023.
  • Pamela A. Guerrero '19, senior CDBG program and policy analyst for the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, has been selected by the Environmental Resilience Institute as one of 12 "Hoosier Resilience Heroes" for 2024.

 

Class of 2000-2009

  • Lysandros Lysandrou '00 published a book, EUREKA! A Novella in English and Cypriot Green. The book is available on Amazon.com.
  • Heather R. Hayes '00 has been promoted to director of the Cole Fitness Center and director of athletics at Indiana University Kokomo in Kokomo, IN, where she will continue to serve as head coach of the volleyball program.
  • Charles W. "Chuck" Gilbert '00 is a risk advisor for the commercial insurance division at Gregory & Appel in Indianapolis.
  • Dr. Julie Pelletier '01, '03 a practicing Psychologist, started Only Goodness, LLC a few years ago. A small business that sells the Therabear, a multi sensory, lightly weighted, therapeutic emotional support bear that can be used by anyone. It is available through her website, Therabear.net and Amazon.
  • Dr. Jeffrey M Burch '01, '05 has been hired as the new Director of behavioral justice services at Crawford County Mental Health Center in Pittsburg, KS.
  • Mary Glowiak '02 wishes to announce the birth of a baby boy, Garrett Ragnar Magnus Reetherford, born March 25, 2024 @ Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was 7 lbs. 12 oz., 20.75" inches long and born at 11:10 am. He joins sister Rebecca Ardella Rain Retherford at their home in Terre Haute.
  • Brian M. Bigam '02, '03 former assistant coach at UIndy and current girls' basketball coach at Circleville High School in Circleville, OH has been honored by The Columbus Dispatch as the "All-Metro Coach of the Year" for the 2023-2024 season.
  • Kimberly S. "Kim" Moore '03 came in second place overall at the 2023 U.S. Adaptive Open (Golf) championship in Pinehurst, NC. She placed first at the inaugural event last year.
  • Kristen M Lowry Lanier '03 has been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Team.
  • Delia M. Salazar '04 has joined the Boy & Girls Clubs of Marshall County board of directors in Plymouth, IN.
  • Emily L. Baker '06 is the new district reading coordinator for Franklin Township Community School Corporation on the southeast side of Indianapolis.
  • Michael A. Wolley, II '06 has been promoted to assistant chief with the Indianapolis Police Department.
  • Joel M. Zawacki '06 assistant general manager of corporate sales and marketing at the Indianapolis Indians has been promoted to vice president and chief commercial officer.
  • Kari C. Britto '07 has been named vice president of operations at Indiana American Water in Greenwood, IN.
  • Dr. Norma E. Hall-Thomas '07 has been selected as the new dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, effective July 1, 2024.
  • Dr. Larry A. Huff '07 has been hired as superintendent of Elkhart Community Schools in Elkhart, IN, effective March 1, 2024.
  • Michael J. "Mike" Solari '07 president and owner of Market Street Group in Indianapolis, has been named to the "Forty Under 40" list by the Indianapolis Business Journal for 2024.
  • Dr. Sarah L. Branam '07 has been promoted to education research analyst for the Pacific West District of the DoDEA (Department of Defense Education Activity), a DOD field activity operating under the direction, authority, and control of the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness.
  • Jessica E. Niehaus '08, LCSW, has opened a private mental health practice in Indianapolis called Therapy Haus Behavioral Health.
  • Robert O. Torres '08 has been honored as "Teacher of the Year" for 2023 by the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township in Indianapolis.
  • Haley A. Day '08 has been promoted to director at London Witte LLP in Indianapolis.
  • Jesse L. McClung '09 has been named as the new head coach of the men's basketball program at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, IN.
  • Samuel C. "Sam" Elmore '09 has been promoted to director of business development at Indiana Sports Corp in Indianapolis.
  • Courtney R. Chapella '09 has been promoted to executive director of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce in Shelbyville, IN.
  • Samantha L. Cotton '09 is the new director of communications for the Community Foundation of Boone County in Lebanon, IN.
  • Joey F. Miles, '09, '10 has been promoted from senior auditor to executive assistant at the Office of Inspector General's audit component, financial management, and reporting directorate of the U.S. Department of Defense.

 

Class of 1990-1999

  • Timothy S. "Tim" Bragg '91 is the new varsity baseball coach at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis. He will continue to teach physical education and health at Belzer Middle School in Indianapolis.
  • Kari S. "Shellie" Hartford '91, '05 is the new director of teaching and learning for the Indiana Department of Education.
  • John P. Drake '93 was honored with the "Volunteer of the Year" award at the 2003 HR Indiana Conference.
  • Brent J. Nicoson '94, former head coach of the men's and women's golf at UIndy, has been selected as head coach of the women's golf program at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.
  • Dr. Jennifer E. Tucker '95, clinical associate professor of physical therapy at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, was inducted into the National Academies of Practice as a "Distinguished Fellow" on March 16, 2024.
  • Linda L. Satter '98 is a key account manager at AMGUARD Environmental Technologies, where she manages strategic key accounts in the turf and landscape markets.
  • Deana A. Labriola '98 has been named as a "Leader in the Law" for 2024 by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly.
  • Eric J. Eads '99 recently retired from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and has accepted a new position as deputy director of security for the Hoosier Lottery.

 

Class of 1980-1989

  • Mark Appleton '81 retired after 31 years of service for the Indian Creek Schools where he taught 4th grade, 5th grade and middle school math.
  • Mark Bless '84 has been elected by past presidents of the Indiana Football Coaches Association (IFCA) to the Indiana Football Hall of Fame.
  • David W. Wantz '84 and his wife Susan B. "Susie" Fleck '89 have announced a $1 million estate gift to Franklin College in Franklin, IN, to provide financial assistance to students for domestic and international travel opportunities.
  • Miles A. Hercamp '85 director of instructional services, director of technology, and director of school safety, has announced his retirement from New Palestine Community Schools in mid June after a 39 year career in education.
  • William S. "Scott" Kiesel '86 has been appointed board treasurer of The Oaks Academy in Indianapolis.
  • B. "Scott" Heady '86 is the new head coach of the men's basketball team at UIndy.
  • D. Scott Bless '87 has announced his retirement as head football coach at Bloomington High School North in Bloomining, IN, where he still teaches and serves as assistant athletic director.
  • Lynda R. Dunbar '87 has been elected mayor of Greencastle, IN. She will start her term on January 1, 2024.
  • Caroline Sims '89 is the new compliance director at Thrive Alliance in Columbus, IN.

 

Class of 1970-1979

  • Dave Geible '70 has established a scholarship for acting/directing students in Theater in honor of Dr. Richard Williams.
  • Daniel M. "Martin" McDaniel '75 has been inducted into the Rockford Public Schools Fine Arts Hall of Fame in Rockford, IL.  He was the band director at Eisenhower Middle School for 33 years until 2008.  He also served as director of bands at Keith County Day School from 2008 to 2015.
  • Dr. Sue C. Willey, '75 former Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics at UIndy, has been honored with the "Division II Gold Award" by the national Collegiate Athletic Association for her outstanding contributions to the division throughout her career.
  • Richard A. "Rick" Marshall '79 will be inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame on April 27, 2024.
  • David O. "Dave" Wollman '79 track and field coach at Southern Methodist University in University Park, TX has been inducted into the SMU Athletics Hall of Fame for 2024.

 

Class of 1960-1969

  • Vasco L. Walton '66 has been elected to the Indiana Football Hall of Fame.

Class of 2020-2022

  • Bryanna N. Lacey '20 began studies at the American University of Caribbean School of Medicine in August 2022 with plans of becoming a physician working with older adults and advocating for their health. She is an active member of the American Medical Women's Association and a member of the Family Medicine Interest Group and volunteers with the Cardiac Interest Group and the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
  • Rashawn Y. "Ray Uriel" Mills '20 was a contestant on the current season of the NBC reality show, The Voice.
  • Marquisha L. Bridgeman '21 has been hired for the new position of vice president of community and business banking partnerships at Merchants Bank of Indiana in Carmel, IN.
  • Aimee M. Dietsch '21 was promoted in November 2022 to the Division Chief of HealthChoice Quality Assurance for the state of Maryland.
  • John M. Dduzik '21 is the recipient of ILOTA 2022 Award of Merit presented to the ILOTA Leadership Development Program Committee of which he serves as Chairperson.  He has presented his doctoral project, "Immigrants' Experience of Inpatient Rehabilitation'' at the AOTA conference in San Antonio, TX and co presented "Cultivating Tomorrow's Leaders: The Illinois Occupational Therapy Association Leadership Development Program's Inaugural Cohort" at the WFOT Congress in Paris, France.
  • Eliza A. Denmeade '21 has been hired by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville as the next head coach of the schools NCAA Division III women's soccer team.
  • Alejandro T. "Alex" Steinwascher '22 has signed with the Union Omaha, a professional soccer team in Papillion, NE.
  • Andrea Vassev '22 was promoted to Manager of Inpatient Therapy and Holistic Health Department at UW Health Northern Illinois.
  • Toriano D. Clinton '22 has been invited by the Indianapolis Colts to the 2023 rookie minicamp held at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center.

  • Amelia R. Comer '10 is the new assistant program coordinator for Genesis: Pathways to Success, an initiative of the Ripley County Community Foundation.

  • Dr. Shakeel L. Baig '05 has been hired as transportation group leader at V3 Companies in Indianapolis to help the firm expand transportation services to the Indiana market.
  • Mindy A. Westrick Brown '06 has rejoined Faegre Drinker as counsel in the government and regulatory practice group in Indianapolis, where she previously worked from 2008 to 2019.  Most recently, she served as vice president of the Indiana Energy Association.

She currently works as a pre- and post-game host for Houston Astros baseball broadcasts on AT&T. She also works as a sports-talk radio host and NFL reporter for the ESPN radio affiliate in Houston.
  • Rebecka Fee, MS, '17 has been certified as a Dementia Friends Champion and can now present Dementia Information Sessions to interested groups of people or organizations, in person or virtually. The purpose of the information sessions is to educate the general public about various types of dementia and help them to have a better understanding of how to interact with individuals living with dementia.

  • Mary Elizabeth Patnaude, DHSc, OTR/L, '19 is the editor of the newly released 4th Edition of Early's Physical Dysfunction Skills for Occupational Therapy Assistants and has a contract to write a Clinical reasoning book which will be released in 2022. She also has been appointed as clinical associate professor and director of admissions for the OTD program at Baylor University.

  • Jared Tucher '01 was installed as pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat (Dillsboro), IN and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dewberry (Crossplains), IN on Oct. 17, 2021. He returns to Indiana after serving in Wyoming for 16 years.
  • John J. "Jeff" Whorley, Jr. '01 has been appointed by Gov. Eric Holcomb to the Ports of Indiana Commission through December 31, 2025. The Commission is a seven-member, bipartisan board appointed by the Governor for staggered four-year terms to approve the organization's major projects, budgets, and strategic objectives.

In May 2022, she helped Team USA win the Cairns Cup, the adaptive version of the Ryder Cup. In 2021, she won the U.S. NationalAmputee Golf Championship.

  • Thomas A. "Tom" Noe '92 will be inducted into the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame in February 2022. He was an All-American on the 1992 Men's Track & Field team that was inducted into the UIndy Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005.
  • Nirupama Hayden '98 is director of equity learning at the Peace Learning Center in Indianapolis.
  • Linda Harshbarger '91 started a new part-time position as an accounting assistant with AppraiserVendor.com in Greenwood, Indiana. This is in addition to Moose Cabin Creations LLC, my craft/writing personal business.
  • Jeffrey A. Conrad '90 '95 has been promoted to president and chief executive officer of the Wabash Valley Power Alliance (WVPA) in Indianapolis. He has been with the company since 1999, most recently in the position of chief operating officer.

  • Dawn Mitchell '84 Accepted a position as Corporate Communications Senior Content Associate in Aug. 2021 after a 34-year career with The Indianapolis Star.

 

Class of 1970-1979

  • Dave Geible '70 joined The Dramatist Guild last year. His play "Nothing Matters" was presented by East Lynne Theater Company, Cape May, NJ in both live and televised versions last year. His new play "Not Just Any Statue in the Park", originally begun while still a student at UIndy (ICC) will be produced this April by Communal Pancake Co., in a reader's theatre production.
  • Joseph Allen '77 retired in December 2020 after 50 years in the workforce. He worked with the city of Indianapolis and emigrated to Australia. He worked for Dow Chemical Australia. He traveled around Australia for a year, then worked various places until landing at Harvey Norman retail stores warehouses in Sunshine and Maribyrnong for 3 years until retirement. He's been married 34 years to Linda and has 3 sons and 2 grandchildren with one on the way.
  • Charles Crawford '76 was selected as a Fellow of the Indiana Academy of Science at their 137th Annual Meeting.

  • The late Ray P. Crowe '38 will be inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame on July 1, 2022, in San Antonio, TX. He is already a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame (1968) and the UIndy Athletics Hall of Fame (1987).

  • Vince Flecker '73 retired from teaching at Zionsville Middle School after 23 years in 2017. In January 2020 Vince published his first novel, What Family Does. It is a heartwarming story about how two families came together through the depression and beyond World War ll.   • Jon Burroughs '72 writing as J. Paul Burroughs wrote Mister 20 which was out in July in the Murder 20/20 anthology.
  • J. Donald Cossairt, '70 retired from the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) in Batavia, IL in February 2020 after almost 42 years of service reaching the rank of Distinguished Scientist. Don remains a Scientist Emeritus at Fermilab, a Distinguished Emeritus Member of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP), a Fellow Member of the Health Physics Society, and a member of the American Physical Society. He continues to live with his wife Claudia in Aurora, IL

  • Nathan Scott '04 released an all-instrumental album titled “MasterPeace” in January. The project was created with the sole purpose of bringing awareness and solutions to the problems of racial profiling and discrimination. All proceeds from the sales of the project will be donated to non-profit organizations that have programs in place to help solve this problem.

  • Linda M. Dillman '76, a member of the University of Indianapolis Board of Trustees, has been recognized by WomenInc. Magazine as one of the “Most Influential Corporate Board Directors” for 2019.
  • Deborah Van Peeren Bucholz '75 '82 '99 retired from both of her careers in May 2020 after 33 years with Community Health Network and 13 years with MSD Decatur Township. She held licensure in both nursing (1975, 1982) and elementary education (1999) with degrees from UIndy under all three of the university's names!
  • Becke Major '74 retired after 46 years as a hospital nurse. Her career covered many different areas and experiences from the ICU to the NICU to general surgery to the nursing supervisor for a 400-bed hospital, and finally to working in an oncology unit. She misses her patients and co-workers greatly but is also grateful to have spent last year traveling the country and seeing her children and grandchildren.
  • Susan (Graves) Thompson '70 and Marti (Brown) Stigers '70, college roommates living in Indiana, visited fellow college roommate Susan (Blubaugh) Hulse '70 in Arizona in March.

  • Marina (Chapman) Brown '65 has been a professional ballet dancer with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, a hospice nurse, a deep water sailor, an award-winning painter, a cellist with the Tampa Bay Symphony, and is the author of six books including three novels—the latest of which, The Orphan of Pitigliano, was recently released. Her debut volume of poetry, The Leaf Does Not Believe It Will Fall, won a Silver Medal from the Florida Authors & Publishers Association, Inc. (FAPA) in 2019.
  • Ginnvor E. “Ginny” Bullard '65 has been honored with the 2019 “Abe Martin Award” for her service to the Brown County Historical Society.
  • Charles R. “Dick” Nyers '56 has been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, Class of 2020. The induction ceremony took place on March 25, 2020.

  • Uche Unogu '08 is an international evangelist and enterprise architect and was the featured speaker at a meeting organized by his Indianapolis- based ministry, Onyx Evangelistic Association, in Bhawanigarh, India, which drew 10,000 attendees in September.
  • Michael Fields '07 graduated from Indiana Institute of Technology (Indiana Tech) with a doctorate of philosophy in global leadership and concentration in organizational management. He will begin his fifth year as a faculty member in the College of Business at Eastern Oregon University in September 2019.

  • Justin Barrett '96 is the Associate General Counsel for Golars, LLC in Noblesville. He lives with his wife, Kathleen, and children, Noah and Emma, in Carmel, Indiana.

  • Donald C. Gillespie '86 became President and CEO of CrossRoads Financial FCU in Portland, Indiana, on January 2, 2020.

  • Catherine Burton '78 has owned and operated a state-licensed child care center and preschool since 1980. She serves as the president of the Marion County Alliance of Neighborhood Associations and as the Land Use Chairman and Family Assistance Chairman of the Franklin Township Civic League.
  • Bruce D. Jennings '78, the principal at Bremen High School in Bremen, Indiana, was honored with a lifetime achievement award by the Bremen Chamber of Commerce on September 19, 2019.
  • E. Elaine Barrett '77, executive assistant to the senior vice president of basketball at the NCAA, was named the 2019 President's Award recipient during the annual Staff Appreciation Day. The award is presented to a staff member who best exemplifies national office core values. Barrett was presented with a trophy by President Mark Emmert.
  • Harley Robinson '74, was awarded the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association.
  • Jon Burroughs '72 '76 is retired from Indianapolis Public Schools. His latest novel, Karma and Crime, will be published through Bastet Publishing. Last December, his story, “The Reindeer Murder Case,” appeared in the anthology Homicide for the Holidays.
  • David W. Bowman '72 retired in 2017 from 25 years of creating and hosting national cable automotive television shows. With a business partner in 1991, he founded Brenton Productions and created the popular “Shadetree Mechanic” series seen on the former Nashville Network. He later created and hosted the “Crank & Chrome” and “Two Guys Garage” automotive shows. After semi-retiring, he joined with Masters Entertainment to both start and host “Motorhead Garage,” now seen on Motor Trend Television Network. Earlier, he retired after 20 years with Honeywell International, where he worked in the automotive aftermarket division in advertising and was the manager of motorsports with the Fram, Autolite, and Bendix product lines. Mr. Bowman and his wife, Karen, live in Lutz, Florida.
  • J. Donald Cossairt '70 and co-author Matthew Quinn, PhD, recently published a new textbook entitled “Accelerator Radiation Physics for Personnel and Environmental Protection.” Despite profound developments in particle accelerators over the past four decades, this book is the first new textbook on this topic published since 1973. Dr. Cossairt is a Distinguished Scientist at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois.
  • David Geible '70 has retired from full-time work as a mapping specialist for the Fremont County Assessor's Office, Lander, Wyoming, but continues to work as a consultant performing archival and regulatory research, specializing in mineral rights ownership, grazing rights, and water rights.
  • Samuel Pieh '72 received the Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award during the third annual National Entertainment Awards in Sierra Leone. He is a descendant of Sengbe Pieh, who led a revolt in 1839 on the Spanish slave ship, La Amistad, and then won his freedom in a landmark case before the U.S. Supreme Court. Pieh served as a dialect coach and played a role in the 1997 Steven Spielberg film based on these events. He is currently being filmed for a new series titled “One Thousand Years of Slavery” for London, U.K.-based Channel 5.

 

Class of 1960–1969

  • Gregory Hoback '69 retired after 35 years from Haynes International, Kokomo, Indiana. He and his wife, Ellen, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

  • Jordan Marckel '15 recently published her first manuscript in the Journal of Drug Metabolism and Disposition in March. Jordan is a fourth year Ph.D. candidate in the Molecular, Cellular, and Biochemical Pharmacology program at the University of Cincinnati. Jordan's thesis focuses on the in-vivo preclinical development of an anti-cocaine monoclonal antibody and its Fab fragment for the treatment of cocaine abuse.

She received the Democratic nomination for the Indianapolis City-County Council District 6 seat for the 2019 municipal election that will be held in November.

Gilford started a program at her school called Science Buddies, a peer mentoring program that trains high school students to present science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities to first graders.
  • Ashley “Hoody” Miller '04 completed her master's degree in Library and Information Science from IUPUI in December 2018. She and her husband, Justin '09, live on the south side of Indianapolis with their five children.

  • Jean Kendrick Bell Hughes '85 has retired after 30 years of teaching music to the community and children of Southern Wells Community Schools.
  • Kenneth Dale Wells '81 announced his retirement from the ministry in the United Methodist Church, effective July 1, 2019, after 34 years of full-time ordained service in the South Indiana Conference and Indiana Conference from 1985 to 2019, and one year previous in the Oklahoma Conference from 1984 to 1985 as a full-time local pastor.
  • Michael Reel '79 retired after 31 years with Nissan Motor Acceptance in Irving, Texas. He was involved in the football program under Coach Bless, WICR and served as a resident assistant in the Wilmore dormitory the last two years prior to it being demolished.
  • Bruce Jennings ‘78 was named the 2018 Indiana High School Principal of the Year by the Indiana Association of School Principals. He has been employed by Bremen Public Schools for 40 years.

  • Vera Blinn Reber '63 published a monograph in the series “Routledge Studies in the History of the Americas.” “Tuberculosis in the Americas, 1870-1945; Beneath the Anguish in Philadelphia and Buenos Aires” examines patient perspectives and public responses to the changing perspectives of the causes of tuberculosis and considers public health and medical efforts to limit contagion and treat the disease.
  • Eulala G. Roettger '39 has been honored in the “Volunteer” category on the Indianapolis Business Journal list of “Health Care Heroes” for 2019.
  • Two alumni were honored at the National Association for Music Educators awards at the annual Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA) conference in Fort Wayne in early 2019. Shaina Liv Lescano '18 received the New Teacher Award granted by the Indiana American String Teachers Association, and Mick Bridgwater '73 received the Outstanding Hoosier Musician Award.

  • George R. “Rob” Dury '17 is a consultant for the healthcare performance advisory services team at BKD in Indianapolis.
  • Jordan Loyd '16 made history as the first University of Indianapolis men's basketball alumnus to play in the NBA. On a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors, he scored his first points in the NBA regular season against the Chicago Bulls on Nov. 17.
  • Thomas (Tom) Hakim '15 has been named principal of Westfield's Washington Woods Elementary School. Hakim is the second principal in the school's history.
  • Becca Christensen '15 and Matt Harrison '13 were married on September 22, 2018.

  • Randall L. “Randy” Heisler '86 is the new track and cross country coach at Vincennes University.
  • Donald Gillespie '86 serves as Portland City Court Judge and is the runner's coordinator for The Run Across America/ Run For The Fallen. Participants in the event run from Ft. Irwin, CA, to Arlington National Cemetery in honor of the 20,000 service men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice since the bombing of the USS Cole in 2000. The run lasted 120 days, passed through 19 states and totaled 6,000 miles. Gillespie coordinated more than 400 runners for a relay that included 10 days of running in Indiana and passed through Indianapolis on June 26, 2018.

  • Alan Grieger '84 competed in his first Naturally Fit Federation (NFF) Classic Physique show in April 2018 where he placed fifth in the novice division and second in the masters division.
  • Dr. James W. “Jim” Hurrell '84 has been named the Walter Scott, Jr., Presidential Chair in Environmental Science and Engineering at Colorado State University.
  • Glenn L. Woods, Jr. '80 is a teacher in the clay studio at the Marco Island Center for the Arts in Florida.
  • Charlie Sparks '79, president and CEO of the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance, was one of eight people to receive statewide recognition from the Indiana Economic Development Association for having a significant impact on the Hoosier economy.
  • James Dennis Rippy '78 retired from teaching at the John Glenn school corporation in Walkerton, IN, after 40 years of service. He taught business law, marketing, general business, freshman physical education, weightlifting and conditioning. He was also a head coach in four sports over the course of 28 years. He was honored with the school corporation teacher of the year (2004), Region 2 Division 2 football coach of the year (1987-90), and coached the smallest school to win the Penn track sectional (1995). Because of this success, the high school named the Dennis Rippy Track Invitational in his honor. He also received the John Glenn Falcon award for his years of service in athletics at John Glenn (2008) and the Northern States Conference service award for years of service in the Northern Lakes Conference (2008). He and his wife, Sarah, also class of 1978, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on July 30, 2018.

  • Manny McGuire '73 helped host more than 50 alumni and guests for the 11th annual baseball team reunion at Victory Field and McQ's during the weekend of July 27-28, 2018.
  • Charles Patrick '72 retired in September 2017 as a utility analyst with the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor. He previously served as a financial officer, controller and accountant for more than 35 years. Prior to becoming a student at Indiana Central, he served in the United States Marine Corps for more than five years. He has been married for 45 years and has two daughters and four grandsons.
  • Royce D. Thrush '72 retired in 2017 from 32 years teaching music at Park Tudor School in Indianapolis. Prior to Park Tudor, he was an instructor of piano at Butler University and freelance musician, serving as pianist for, among others, the Indiana Repertory Theatre, Indianapolis Opera, Indianapolis Arts Chorale, and Indianapolis Maennerchor.
  • David Geible '70 retired from the Fremont County Assessor's Office September 30, 2017, and from the Fremont County Fire Protection District as a volunteer in 2015. He plans to continue to improve the mountain cabin he built near the townsite of Atlantic City, WY, during the summer and enjoy it for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.
  • Robert G. “Bob” Smock '69 will be inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in March 2019.
  • Patricia Youmans '67 and husband, Al, have traded the beaches of Florida for the mountains of Las Vegas. Both of their sons live in Nevada, so they made the move in May 2018 to a suburb of Las Vegas to enjoy family and the dry air.
  • Jim Ellars '66 retired in June 2018 after 52 years of service in the Greenfield-Central (IN) School Corporation. He taught third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades at four schools in Greenfield. Jim and his wife, Georgia, a former UIndy student, are enjoying retirement in Indianapolis.
  • Ray Trisler '65 fondly remembers pitching against Steve Carlton (who was named one of the top 25 greatest pitchers of all time) in 1964 as a member of the Milwaukee Braves (now Atlanta Braves) farm team in Greenville, SC. Trisler was the only pitcher to beat Carlton that year. Trisler retired from Eli Lilly and Company after 25 years of service in 1993.
  • Brenda Cosey '62 retired from the East Orange School District in June 2015 after 31 years of service.

  • Ken File '89 joined the Damar Foundation as president. He lives in Indianapolis.
  • Sharon Annee '89 has been appointed administrative director of orthopedics at Franciscan St. Francis Health.
  • John R. Dickerson '87 director of the Indianapolis Facilities Center for the Department of Homeland Security, has been elected to the Franklin College board of trustees.
  • Lynda Dunbar '87 was re-elected to her second term as the Greencastle City Clerk-Treasurer. In January 2016 she opened a small café in Crawfordsville IN called The Luncheonette, which is located next to her second candy store Completely Nuts and Candy Company. Her initial candy store is located in Greencastle, IN.
  • Kimberly Fogg '86 was recently recognized by Forbes as one of the Top Female Wealth Advisors, which published on February 28, 2017. She is employed by Merrill Lynch.
  • Suzanne Herrick Walker '86 received the rank of full professor at Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio, where she is the Dean of Undergraduate Education and a faculty member in the Communication Department. Her husband, Jeff Walker '87 began working at the school's Academic Resource Center, where he works one-on-one with at-risk students. Jeff also teaches in the Communication Dept. They live in Marietta, Ohio.
  • Thomas J. Piratzky '86 has been re-certified as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).  He is vice president of marketing and public relations at Cape Regional Health System in Cape May, NJ, and he has served as executive director of the Cape Regional Foundation since 2001.
  • Debra Ross  '85, executive vice president and CFO of the National Bank of Indianapolis, has been named “CFO of the Year” in the category of private companies with revenue below $100M by the  Indianapolis Business Journal.
  • James Hurrell '84 and 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award winner, serves at the director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research and was elected incoming president of the Atmospheric Sciences Section of the American Geophysical Union.
  • Bret Myers  '84 is the new pastor at Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ in Amherst, Ohio. He lives in Elyria, Ohio.

  • Dr. David W. Wantz '84 has been elected president of The Indianapolis Public Library board of trustees for 2016. He was selected as the “ Person of the Year ” for 2016 by  The Southside Times.
  • Jeff Stevens '84 has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Business Development for Mid-City Supply Co., Inc. Jeff will celebrate his 28th anniversary with Mid-City Supply in September.
  • John J. Doherty '84 has been promoted to vice president of therapy services, sports medicine, and occupational health at the Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana in Munster, IN.
  • Steven P. Sittler '83 is a senior project geologist at Patriot Engineering in Indianapolis.

  • Peter C. Mather  '82 has been named interim dean of University College and vice provost of undergraduate education at Ohio University.
  • Jeff Bontrager  '81, head boys basketball coach at Levelland High School in Texas advanced his team to the state tournament in the 4A division for the first time in over 60 years. Levelland was 1 of 4 teams out of 128 to advance through the playoffs to the state tournament in San Antonio. His sons, Lukas & Dillan were also players on the team.
  • Phillip L. Martin  '81 is vice president of corporate banking for the Plattsburgh region of the Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company in New York.
  • Catherine D. “Cathy” Erwin  '81 has been promoted to vice president of finance at Cripe in Indianapolis.
  • Edward W. “Ed” Roehling '81 has been named to the “Richard M. Fairbanks Hall of Fame” for 2016 by the Indiana Broadcasters Association.
  • Stevan Savich  '80, bank examiner and certified trust auditor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, is featured in an article on the NCAA website called “Banking on success: Stevan Savich parlays his college experience into a career with the Federal Reserve.”
  • Carmen D. Hurley  '79 was honored for his contributions to wrestling during a ceremony at Jennings County High School in North Vernon, IN.
  • Dr. John G. Peters  '78 has joined Methodist Sports Medicine in Greenwood, IN, where he specializes in spinal injuries and conditions.
  • Thomas L. Clymer ' 78 has been inducted into the Plainfield High School Hall of Fame.

  • Don Snyder '78 presented Non-traditional Materials For The Traditional Seasonal Observances at the Indiana Music Educators Association conference on January 13, 2017 in Ft. Wayne, IN.
  • Mike Cagle '77, a First Vice President with F.C. Tucker, lead the South office for individual agents in production with seventy homes sold for $13.9 million. In addition, Mike lead the entire company for individual agents in listing sold for the fifth consecutive year and was in the Top Ten in closed production in individual agent for the sixth consecutive year. Mike and his wife Sheila '73 '75 live in Greenwood.
  • David Michel '76 retired from active ministry in the United Methodist Church, finishing an 8 year appointment as District Superintendent of the Northeast District of the Indiana Conference. He is married to Anne (Kay) Michel, '76, who also retired from Ivy Tech College Fort Wayne.  They continue to live in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and plan a supported through hike of the Appalachian Trail March to September, 2016.
  • Debbie Bucholz '75 proudly displays her three degrees from Indiana Central College (Nursing '75), Indiana Central University (Nursing '82) and University of Indianapolis (Elementary Education '99). A lifelong learner, true to her Education for Service.

  • Larry Lamport  '73 retired from the Indiana Gaming Commission November 30, 2016 after 16 years auditing and regulating Indiana casinos.
  • Jon P. Burroughs  '72 retired in June 2016 from Indianapolis Public Schools after 44 years as a teacher.
  • Gayle S. Stahlhuth '72, artistic director of the East Lynne Theater Company in West Cape May, NJ, has been inducted into the VIP Woman of the Year Circle by the National Association of Professional Women.
  • J. Donald Cossairt '70 of Fermilab in Batavia, IL, received one of two inaugural service recognition awards for teaching the most USPAS courses held since 1987.

  • David A. Shaffer  '70 has been hired as interim superintendent for Franklin Township Community Schools.
  • Campus visit with Susan Graves Thompson '70 on left and her roommate Marti Brown Stigers. They met as roommates 50 years ago this month and have remained friends and enjoyed several travel adventures together.

  • John K. Wortinger  '68 published his first book “The Unifying Word”. He and his wife, Linda '67, are retired in Greenwood, Indiana.
  • The Mike Watkins Real Estate Group, owner Mike Watkins '68 '72 is ranked 14 th on the  Indianapolis Business Journal  list of all-star real estate agent teams for 2015.  The group sold $69.6M over the last two years.
  • Richard A. Hughes  '63 has earned the “Constance Cupp Plankenhorn Alumni Award for Faculty Excellence” for 2016 at Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA.
  • Terry Wetherald  '63 was honored for his contributions to wrestling during a ceremony at Jennings County High School in North Vernon, IN.
  • Jim Simons  '58 has retired after a 56 year career in education that spanned from Speedway, IN to Angola IN to Trine University, to serving as a substitute teacher. Jim has been the official announcer at the Girls' State Swim Meet every year since its inception. In February, 2016, he was the official head starter for the girls meet at the Indy Natatorium.
  • William Brock '55 wrote articles for the “Officer Review” magazine of the Military Order of the World Wars during the FY 1915 – 1916.   He was appointed as the National Chaplain for that organization and also coordinated the memorial service on August 13, 2016 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at their National Convention.
  • Rosalie Rapp Eiler  '54 was recognized as “Caregiver of the Year” by Assisting Hand Home Care. She previously was an elementary teacher for 35 years.
