Education

UIndy's School of Education offers undergraduate and graduate programs in classroom teaching, education administration, athletic training and kinesiology with the following accreditations:

  • Teacher education programs, accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education
  • Athletic Training Education, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education
  • Exercise Science, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs

The School is known for leading-edge programs and supportive, experienced faculty who have strong relationships with Central Indiana schools and clinical sites. All programs emphasize applied learning beginning in the freshman year, so students are well prepared for their fields upon graduation. The School also collaborates with UIndy's Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL).

Teacher Education

Teacher Education includes majors in Elementary Education (K-6) and Secondary/All-Grade Education (7-12 and all grades in music, art and PE/health). These programs prepare students to teach in a variety of school settings. Students also can earn specialized licenses or certificates in special education and reading.

Athletic Training

Students in UIndy's highly competitive athletic training program have the distinct advantage of going to school in the amateur sports capital of the country and home of the NCAA headquarters, which offers a wealth of professional opportunities.

Kinesiology

The Department of Kinesiology offers majors in four areas:

Master's
Programs

 

Master of Arts in Teaching

The MAT program prepares those who already have a bachelor's degree for a teaching career. Individuals can meet Indiana licensure requirements for teaching several subjects in middle or high school, or all-grade music, PE/health or visual arts.

Educational Leadership (iLEAD)

iLEAD is a principal preparation program designed for current teachers who want to move into school administration. This innovative program is taught in a hybrid online/in-class format by faculty who have demonstrated success as building and district leaders.

 

 

Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellowship

The Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellowship is for career changers or recent grads who have degrees in math or science. This competitive, full-time program provides a $30,000 stipend.

Master of Science in Sport Management

The Master of Science in Sport Management program prepares students for careers within an intercollegiate athletics department, conference office or national governing agency.
