UIndy's motto is "Education for Service," and we put that into practice every day. Our students log thousands of volunteer hours each semester in a wide variety of organizations and in locations around the world. UIndy has even been nationally recognized — we're one of just 115 schools nationwide to receive the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching's Community Engagement Classification, and we were recently listed on the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll through the Corporation for National & Community Service.
One way for students be active in the community is by taking service learning courses — classes centered on different aspects of community service that usually involve hands-on service projects. Want to take it to the next level? At UIndy, you can minor in civic engagement and community leadership.
In addition to service learning classes, UIndy's Community Programs Center helps students find volunteer opportunities that meet their educational, career and personal objectives.
