OTD & MOT Application Instructions

Complete the following steps to apply to UIndy's Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) or Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program. 

  1. Complete the online application - The preferred application deadline for the MOT 2-Day/Week program is May 16. We will have an additional application cycle later in the year for any remaining spots.
  2. Submit 3 letters of recommendation - Recommenders may submit their letters and evaluations using our online recommendation system. Please let them know that an email regarding the recommendation may have ended up in a Spam Folder. One recommendation must be from an occupational therapist. Other recommendations should be from a professional supervisor, and when possible should include an academic source.
  3. Submit official transcripts to the University of Indianapolis - This includes transcripts of ALL postsecondary coursework taken at institutions of higher education.
  4. Casper scores will be required for applications submitted during the Fall 2024-25 application cycle. See instructions on initiating the Casper testing process. 
  5. Attend an on-campus interview - After the application deadline, top applicants will be invited to an admission interview day. Interviews will be offered to only the top applicants who meet all requirements. An interview is required to be considered for admission to the program. Candidates must demonstrate professional behavior throughout the inquiry, application and admission process. Qualified candidates will be notified of the interview date and time. Top candidates will be considered for scholarships and graduate assistantships.

  1. Complete the online application via OTCAS - The preferred application deadline for the MOT and OTD programs is October 1. Applications for both programs will be accepted until the cohort is full.
  2. Submit 3 letters of recommendation - Recommenders may submit their letters and evaluations using our online recommendation system via OTCAS. Immediately after you enter your recommenders' contact information in the online application, your recommenders are sent an email from OTCAS asking them to submit a letter of recommendation electronically. One recommendation must be from an occupational therapist. Other recommendations should be from a professional supervisor, and when possible should include an academic source.
  3. Submit official transcripts through OTCAS - This includes transcripts of ALL postsecondary coursework taken at institutions of higher education.
  4. Casper scores will be required for applications submitted during the Fall 2025-26 application cycle. See instructions on initiating the Casper testing process.

After interview day, applicants will be notified of the admission decision. Some individuals may be placed on a waitlist for admission. The University reserves the right to verify information for the application file via available media. The University also reserves the right to revoke an offer of admission if any information provided is found to be false or inaccurate.

International Applicants & Applicants Educated Abroad

International students seeking admission to graduate degree programs must fulfill the following additional admission and financial requirements:

  1. Course-by-course evaluation of foreign educational credentials - Because universities around the world differ, we require this evaluation as an assurance that you have completed the U.S. equivalent of a bachelor's degree. (Photocopies are not acceptable for this portion of your application material.) We require a course-by-course credential evaluation. The following is a list of agencies that offer this service:

  2. TOEFL/TWE scores - Students for whom English is a second language are required to submit TOEFL and TWE scores. Photocopies are not acceptable. Scores of 100 Internet-based total or 250 Computer-based total on the general TOEFL and a score of 5.0 on the Test of Written English (TWE) are the minimal score requirements for application. TOEFL scores should be sent to institution code R1321, school code R0618, department code 44.
  3. Certification of Finances (Students applying for visas only) - For applicants not living and working in the USA, we require assurances that you have adequate funds to support yourself during your years of study.
  4. Photocopy of passport - This is needed to ensure that the I-20 information is accurate.

Application materials become the property of the University of Indianapolis and will not be returned to applicants.
