University Name Change Policy: Your preferred first name may be used in University-related systems and documents except where the use of the legal name is required by law.

View instructions for updating your personal information on MyUIndy

Once your name is updated in MyUIndy, a new student and/or employee ID card can be requested by visiting the Student Affairs office (Room 210, Schwitzer Student Center) during normal business hours.

Once your name has been updated in MyUIndy, students and employees may contact the IT Help Desk (help@uindy.edu) to request an email address that more closely matches their name.

If a student does not wish to obtain a new email address but does wish to have the display name changed, they can follow instructions for updating their email display name.   It is important to note that this will not automatically update others' contact information for you in their Gmail accounts. If they have emailed you previously under an old display name, that one will continue to populate until they change it. This means there is the potential for others to see an old name on an email address list. If this is a concern, it is safer to change the entire email address.

Any student who indicates they do not identity as a cisgender, binary gender will be contacted by the Student Affairs Logistics Coordinator to discuss roommate assignments. The student will be asked what room assignment would be most comfortable for them, and that is the way the room assignment will be made.
