Post-Master APRN certificates

Post Master APRN certificates are offered in the following concentrations for those who already have an MSN. Track lengths will vary based on the current MSN degree held by the applicant.

  • Primary Care Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
  • Primary Care Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner

Upon completion of these tracks, nurse practitioners are eligible to sit for national certification in their respective specializations through:

  • The American Nurses Credentialing Center
  • The American Association of Nurse Practitioners
  • The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board
  • The National Certification Corporation

Primary Care family nurse practitioner

As an FNP, you will be able to improve the health of individuals and their families across their life spans, especially underserved and vulnerable populations. If public health is a passion, you will also be ready to educate professionals, clients, and communities regarding healthcare issues. Working one-on-one with a patient or bettering a whole community, you can do even more as an FNP.

Track specific courses to obtain this Post Master's APRN certificate total 34 credit hours and 645 clinical hours. A gap analysis is performed and credit may be awarded for applicants prior education and work experience.

Primary Care Adult/Gerontological nurse practitioner

As an AGPCNP, you have the opportunity to serve individuals across this broad life spectrum, providing personal care that is specific to their particular station in life. It's a specialty that not only requires a clear understanding of the unique health concerns for adults of different ages, but also compassion and patience. If this is your calling, UIndy will prepare you to meet the needs of a rapidly aging population that desperately needs caring experts in the field.

Track specific courses to obtain this Post Master's APRN certificate total 33 credit hours and 600 clinical hours. A gap analysis is performed and credit may be awarded for applicants previous education and work experience.

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

As an NNP, you will be equipped to care for the sickest of newborns, a specialty with a national shortage. UIndy's program, which is a collaboration with Indiana University School of Medicine and Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, is the only program preparing neonatal nurse practitioners in the State of Indiana. If this is your passion, UIndy will prepare you to fulfill this very important need and making all the difference in the world to a family with a sick or premature newborn.

Track specific courses to obtain this Post Master's APRN certificate total 36 credit hours and 750 clinical hours. A gap analysis is performed and credit may be awarded for applicants previous education and work experience.
