The fourth floor of Central Hall has been designated the Honors LLC. It is a self-governing learning community specifically established for first-year Honors students. If you choose to live here, you will have access to a variety of services and amenities that promote furthering academic, leadership, and service goals. In fact, the Honors LLC was given the (Inaugural) 2019 Living-Learning Community of the Year Award by the office of the Dean of Students!

Student Requirements

Honors LLC students must:

  • Remain in good academic standing with the Honors College and University of Indianapolis, with a minimum 3.3 GPA. Students who fall below will be placed in a probation system to help them get back to speed in their courses. 
  • Remain enrolled in LLC related courses - Students in the Honors LLC are required to take one of the five courses below offered during their first fall semester: 
    • Honors Philosophy (Ethics of Effective Giving)
    • Honors FYS - Poverty and Wealth in Literature
    • Honors FYS - Poverty and Wealth in Theatre
    • Honors FYS - Inequality in History
    • Honors FYS - Inequality in Sociology
  • Remain in good social standing with the University of Indianapolis and Department of Residence Life
  • Participate in a number of required LLC related activities throughout the academic year (floor programs, dinners, service projects)
  • Be active in some type of leadership role, participate in community service, or be an active member of the Honors College

Honors Alcove

Located on the second floor of Esch Hall, the Honors Alcove provides honors students an informal gathering spot, as well as serving as the information hub for the University community about Honors College news, events, and deadlines.

Honors Alcove Benefits

The perks that Honors College students can find in the Honors Alcove include:

  • Free color printing
  • Space for studying peacefully or building relationships with other honors peers
  • Occasional treats virtue of the Honors office or Honors events
  • A community mini-fridge
  • A community coffee-maker
  • An information board filled with opportunities you can look into

Honors Student Association

A registered student organization that promotes excellence among honors students, this student-led organization is known for creating opportunities for mentorship, volunteering, and leadership for students, as well as for hosting some awesome events! The Honors Student Association often plans events where students can intellectually engage, educate, and enlighten one another on a deeply-moving level. The HSA is often a source of community and support for honors students as they travel their winding paths through honors and towards graduation.
