My Doctor of Health Science degree from UIndy helped propel me into the academic world after a career as a clinician. I learned from so many great professionals while in the program who I have tried to emulate in my current position, and I continue to use the network I cultivated while at UIndy on a regular basis. My career would not have been possible without the DHSc program at UIndy!
Research
With our flexible online format and the support of our experienced faculty, as a student in the DHSc program at UIndy, you will have the opportunity to conduct research on health science topics that matter to you. The curriculum is specifically designed to prepare you for your dissertation, with a series of sequential research courses that walk you through the process. Instead of a capstone requirement, you will prove your ability to independently engage in research and apply your studies to the real world through the development and defense of your dissertation.
Past dissertation topics have included:
- Burnout amongst rehabilitation therapists working in long-term care settings
- Culturally-appropriate HIV care and support services for older African-American women
- Physical literacy and motivation to engage in physical activity after bariatric surgery
Our students represent a wide variety of professional backgrounds, which serves to enrich the classroom experience for students and faculty alike. Their unique perspectives help to inform their coursework, peer collaboration, and research pursuits in meaningful ways.
