Become a leader in your community’s school system with a Master of Arts in School Leadership and Management (SLAM) from the University of Indianapolis.This innovative program is primarily housed within the University of Indianapolis School of Education, with strategic support from the School of Business. As a comprehensive program, SLAM prepares aspiring educational leaders by focusing on cutting-edge practices in education leadership, complemented by relevant management principles. The curriculum covers crucial areas such as educational leadership and organizational change, school culture and team leadership, equity in education reform, school law, and finance, curriculum, and assessment, and data-informed decision-making. Graduates from the SLAM program will not only have the confidence and knowledge to lead substantive and innovative systems of change, but will also be equipped to successfully sit for the Building Level Administrator (BLA) licensure exam and take their education career one step further.
The UIndy SLAM program was an absolute perfect fit. The UIndy SLAM professors provided a rigorous course load while creating a personalized feel that really allowed me to explore the areas that were going to be important to me and my district. We were given the space to push ourselves as a cohort while interacting with amazing professors and professionals in our field. I can’t say enough good things about the program, and I recommend it to anyone that asks about becoming a school leader.

Throughout the program, students engage in internship experiences to apply their learning in real-world educational settings. This culminates in a capstone project that integrates advanced technology through a mixed-media simulation addressing school improvement. Graduates emerge with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to lead substantive and innovative change in educational systems prepared to tackle complex challenges and foster excellence in teaching and learning.

Unlocking the full potential of future educational leaders, the SLAM program at the University of Indianapolis offers its students a variety of authentic field experiences to complement their online instruction. These experiences include spearheading school improvement projects that drive meaningful change within K-12 educational institutions; fostering professional connections and development through student-centered coaching; uncovering opportunity gaps through applied data analysis; and gaining real-world leadership through innovative simulations provided by SchoolSims. Embracing hands-on learning, students emerge from the SLAM program not just with theoretical knowledge but with the practical expertise vital for successful, modern educational leadership.
