Regional Science Fair Rules:
Acronym Definitions


The following are paraphrased versions of the definitions found in the International
Rules for Precollege Science Research: Guidelines for Science and Engineering
Fairs /2003-2004,
published by Intel. Copies of this booklet can be obtained
from your science teacher, from the science fair staff, or by visiting the
Intel ISEF document library.


IRB: Institution Review Board

This is a group which exists at the school level. It consists of a science teacher,
an administrator, a social scientist/psychologist, and/or an MD.
The IRB should review all research plans involving human subjects.


SRC: Scientific Review Committee

This is a group of qualified individuals (at the Regional Science Fair level) responsible
for evaluating student research, certifications, and exhibits for compliance with the rules
of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.
