What to Bring

Items residents should consider bringing from home:

  • Alarm Clock
  • Blankets and bedspread/comforter
  • Clothes Hangers
  • Computer
  • Extra-long twin sheets and pillowcases
  • Lamp
  • Laundry bag/basket
  • Phone and answering machine
  • Long-distance calling card
  • Pillows
  • Radio
  • Shower bucket (for carrying supplies to and from bathroom)
  • Towels

Other helpful items to bring include:

  • Dictionary/thesaurus
  • Plastic plates and cups
  • Silverware
  • Small TV (cable ready)
  • Throw rug or scrap carpet piece
  • Umbrella
  • Wall decorations

Small appliances are permitted. Appliances that are acceptable for use are:

  • Coffeemakers
  • Electric blankets
  • Hair dryers
  • Popcorn poppers
  • Small microwaves
  • Small refrigerators (3 x 5 cubic ft.)

 

 


What Not to Bring

What list of items to bring is complete without a list of items not to bring? The following items are prohibited in the residence halls:

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Archery equipment
  • Candles and incense
  • Firearms
  • Fireworks
  • Hot plates, toasters, toaster ovens, George Foreman Grills
  • Illegal drugs
  • Knives
  • Large refrigerators
  • Other items defined as weapons
  • Pets (aquariums are permissible, however)
  • Waterbeds
