Housing Assignment
Each year in March the Office of Residence Life starts its housing process for the upcoming year. Current students sign up for rooms of their choice based on their academic status. Housing sign-up runs for two weeks and is staffed by the Resident Assistants and Residence Directors. After the two-week period, the office has open enrollment. In the first week of May, the Residence Life Office places incoming students according to their preferences and the current open spaces on campus.
Students are advised to return their housing materials as early as possible (as soon as they are sure they are coming to the University of Indianapolis) because housing placements are assigned by deposit order.
The Residence Life Office takes all preferences listed on the contract into consideration when placing students in rooms and with roommates. Most of the assignments are finished the second week of May, but housing numbers change daily. Because of the constant changes, the Office of Residence Life sends out students’ housing assignments in the first week of July, after most changes occur.
The mailed housing assignment includes the resident’s hall placement, roommate assignment, and meal plan option. Questions about housing assignments should be directed to the Office of Residence Life at reslife@uindy.edu or (317) 788-3530.
