Young Composers' Contest

The University of Indianapolis is sponsoring the 18th Annual Young Composers' Contest. Students are encouraged to submit an original musical composition for 1–4 instruments or voice. These works will be judged according to originality, style and structure. 

Contest divisions are:

  • Elementary (Grades K–5)
  • Middle School (Grades 6–8)
  • High School (Grades 9–12)


Winners in each category receive $50. Runners-up receive $25. Winners, runners-up and honorable mention students will be featured as guest artists to perform in the End of Semester Student Recital series at the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center on Sunday, May 6th at 1pm or 2:30pm.

  • $10 entry fee (check made out to University of Indianapolis)
  • Composition  – may be submitted in manuscript or computer-generated form. Please do not send original copies of the selection.
  • 50-75 word biography (written in third person)
  • Completed entry form
