Keyboard Academy

Piano, Organ and Harpsichord

The Keyboard Academy is for pre-college students of piano, harpsichord and organ who aspire to expand their musical and keyboard experiences. The Academy offers an integrated and well-rounded curriculum in a nurturing and stimulating environment. Students are taught by professional musicians and University of Indianapolis faculty.

Keyboard Academy concludes with a final piano recital in the Ruth Lilly Performance Hall of the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center.

What to expect

Students are divided into smaller groups based on age and ability. Each student declares a principal (piano) and secondary instrument (organ or harpischord) and private lessons on both will be offered (no prior experience is needed on the secondary instrument). Theory placement tests will be held the first day of the Academy. 

Letter of recommendation

New students must send in a letter of recommendation from their private teacher. Those who are accepted will receive piano ensemble pieces in mid-May for preparation. Letters may be e-mailed to Dr. Minju Choi, Director at choim@uindy.edu.

Music preparation

All students are encouraged to bring at least one polished piece to perform in masterclasses and one or more semi-polished piece(s) for lessons.
