The University of Indianapolis Police Department oversees campus security. UIndy employs a full-time chief and full-time officers, all certified by the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Officers have full arrest powers and are licensed to carry firearms. They enforce all local and state laws, in addition to University regulations.
UIndy police are an important part of the University community. Through daily interaction, officers get to know students, faculty and staff. In addition to typical police duties, UIndy police provide safety escort services and motorist assistance. Officers frequently conduct classes and informational sessions on such topics as personal safety or alcohol education.
If you witnessed a crime on campus and would like to anonymously report it, please fill out the Silent Watch Anonymous Crime Report with the most complete details possible. The form will be sent to the UIndy Police Department when you click submit.
Parking is free at UIndy, but students and employees must obtain permit stickers that are good for one academic year. Guests can choose from several visitors’ lots. When you park, please ensure that you are in an appropriate lot based on your permit sticker or guest status.
