Thank you for joining us.
Welcome to the University of Indianapolis. We’re pleased you stopped by our Web site, but I hope you’ve also been able to visit our beautiful campus, just a few miles outside of downtown Indianapolis, to meet our top-notch faculty and enthusiastic undergraduate and graduate students. Our programs and facilities have grown tremendously in the last decade, and our proximity to the city continues to afford rich cultural, educational and service opportunities for faculty and students alike. Continually striving for excellence, we’ve adopted a strategic plan that involved every segment of our campus community. Formally approved by the Board of Trustees in November 2006, it outlines three major goals through 2011:
- Focus on student learning through engagement.
- Strengthen and expand the learning community for students through varied, formative experiences on campus and in the surrounding neighborhoods.
- Expand the impact of the university beyond its physical boundaries.
We have a number of strategies to achieve these goals, as well as concrete aspirational targets that are helping us mark our progress over the five-year plan period. The Board of Trustees also has approved a 10-year Facilities Master Plan to support our initiatives. It is truly an exciting and collaborative time for this university.
As Dr. John McIlvried, the chair of our Strategic Planning Task Force, noted, “The word that captures the process is quality.” Rather than set enrollment goals and decide construction projects accordingly, we are looking at what we can do on all fronts to continue to attract outstanding faculty and students, and provide the richest and most rewarding educational environment we can.
Watch for great things from UIndy. We intend to become known as the best comprehensive, independent university in the Midwest.
