MSN admission requirements

  1. Completed online graduate nursing application.
  2. Official transcripts of all previous college work. A bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an NLN or CCNE accredited program with at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required. Must demonstrate evidence of completed coursework in undergraduate research.
  3. One recommendation from supervisor, MSN preferred, addressing clinical ability, work experience, professional nursing contributions, and potential for success in graduate school.
  4. Current resume.
  5. Valid Professional Nursing license. 
  6. A non-refundable application fee of $60 payable to the University of Indianapolis.

Admission requirements for post-master's coursework & non-degree seeking students

  1. Completed online graduate nursing application.
  2. Official transcripts of all previous college work. A bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an NLN or CCNE accredited program with at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and an MSN degree from an NLN or CCNE accredited program with at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale is required.
  3. One recommendation from supervisor, MSN preferred, addressing clinical ability, work experience, professional nursing contributions, and potential for success in graduate school.
  4. Current resume.
  5. Valid Professional Nursing license. Students entering any of the Nurse Practitioner programs must have a valid Indiana Nursing License prior to entering clinical courses
  6. A non-refundable application fee of $60 payable to the University of Indianapolis.
  7. If the applicant is not currently practicing in an APRN role, he/she must demonstrate evidence of successful completion of a graduate level nursing pharmacology course from a nationally accredited nursing program. The course must be less than 5 years old from the anticipated time of completion of the post-masters program of study, enrolling in a post-master NP or nurse educator track.
  8. Coursework Review/Gap Analysis:
  • Once the applicant’s application materials are complete, the program faculty will conduct a preliminary analysis of previously completed master's course work.
  • The applicant will be responsible for submitting syllabi, course calendars, and completed direct patient care clinical hours for courses taken during previous master's programming that the applicant wants considered for transfer to the post-master's program.  
  • Additional materials, such as continuing education hours, clinical certifications and other professional activities may be considered as verification of content and clinical expertise in the coursework/gap analysis review.
  • The program faculty will conduct a curriculum review of the syllabi and associated materials. The gap analysis will indicate which courses will need to be taken to complete the desired program of study. This analysis will also be used as documentation for completion of the required elements of sitting for national certification examinations, as applicable.
  • The gap analysis is a requirement when submitting an application for certification.

Once a completed application is received, a faculty member or the academic advisor will contact you to set up an interview.
