Universities are increasingly embracing the notion of service-learning as a model to integrate scholarly work and community engagement. Service-learning paradigms have inspired the global involvement of students and faculty with diverse communities. These connections must continue to be explored.

The symposium will be held at the University of Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, and surrounding community partnership sites. This second joint international symposium aims to bring international teachers, researchers, practitioners, and community leaders to present their research, teaching, and community service experiences and to explore paradigms for service-learning in the 21st century.

Message from President Dr. Beverley Pitts

The University of Indianapolis is looking forward to hosting this second international Service-Learning Symposium. "Education for Service" is our motto because we believe service-learning experiences are a valuable way to help students get the most out of their education while developing what we hope will become a lifelong practice of applying their knowledge and talent toward service to their communities. Our newly adopted Strategic Plan affirms the importance of global connectivity among scholars–opportunities for students and faculty to bridge cultural divides and political boundaries in order to exchange knowledge and ideas. This conference will provide just such an opportunity for intercultural and academic enrichment. I am looking forward to welcoming you to our beautiful campus in Indianapolis.
