AmeriCorps Project

Abraham Lincoln Elementary

At Abraham Lincoln Elementary School there are second and third grade science opportunities. The second grade program meets on Fridays. Our third grade program is called science club, and meets Tuesdays. During both we will be assisting and possibly leading tutor/learning sessions. Also, with this school there will be an opportunity to help prepare materials for the tutor/learning sessions, this is particularly handy for those who can't leave campus. E-mail Christian Smeltzer for program times: smeltzercm@uindy.edu

SENSE Charter School

SENSE is an opportunity for third grade students to be tutored in math. This program will be held at Wheeler Arts Center in classroom 108 Wednesdays from 3:00-5:00pm. Volunteers will be working with a prepaired curriculum.

IPS Homebound

The IPS homebound program is driven by the computer program Skype. The volunteer tutors log into Skype, using a given screen name, which makes the tutor available for the students in the Homebound program. Volunteers will be required to sign on to Skype for an amount of time which is discussed with the AmeriCorps Corrdinator. This program will start next semester.

FIRST Robotics

At Center Grove High School the university is teaming up with local mentors and professionals to help the Center Grove High Schools FIRST Robotics Club with engineering, planning, programing, and designing their robot.
