Theatre Scholarships

You do not need to audition to be accepted into the theatre program, but we do offer scholarships based on an audition or portfolio presentation. These scholarships are open to all full-time theatre and theatre teaching majors. We schedule scholarship auditions/portfolio reviews throughout the academic year, and we also accept digital submissions through our partnership with Acceptd, an online network connecting applicants with performing arts programs. Please note that a scholarship award does not guarantee admission to the University – you must still apply and be accepted to UIndy.

Scholarship details

  • Scholarship amount is dependent on your financial aid package and can amount to up to one quarter of tuition.
  • May be renewed for eight full-time semesters, contingent on active participation in all major productions and maintaining a 2.5 or higher GPA.
  • Stackable with most other UIndy academic and need-based scholarships.

Audition requirements

  • If your concentration is in theatre performance/directing, you must prepare two contrasting monologues, each two minutes or less in length, that demonstrate your range.
  • If your focus is in design/production, you must prepare a four- to five-minute presentation of your portfolio which demonstrates your tech and design work such as photos, sketches, paperwork, production books, play programs, etc.

On-campus scholarship audition/portfolio review

Listed below are the available scholarship audition/portfolio review dates for 2016-17. To schedule your audition or review, please contact the Theatre Department at 1-800-232-8634 ext. 3455, or 317-788-3455. We encourage you to combine your audition/portfolio presentation with a campus visit arranged through the Office of Admissions. Most dates coincide with one of our productions, so if you would like to stay and see a show, we would be happy to provide complimentary tickets for you and your family.
