Sociology Student Organizations & Activities
Through UIndy's Department of Sociology, you can get involved in student organizations and other activities focused on criminal justice or sociology that help you gain valuable professional experience and connect with other students who share your interests.
Sociology Student Association
The Sociology Student Association gives students the opportunity to engage in service, contribute to campus academic events, network with other future professionals, learn from current professionals working in their fields, gain leadership experience, and have fun! Past activities include participating in the Super Saturday of Service, a tour of the Indianapolis Re-entry Educational Facility, a screening of the documentary Marble Hill: Unsafe at Any Price and conversation with the filmmaker, conversations with local politicians, and donation collection for the nursery at the Indiana Women's Prison.
Alpha Kappa Delta
As the honor society for undergraduate and graduate sociology students, AKD was founded to promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, research of social problems, and other social and intellectual activities that will lead to improvement in the human condition. Excelling students are invited into the organization each year.
