Young Artists Awards
In its mission to discover, nurture and prepare the next generation of talented musicians, the University of Indianapolis will hold its fifth annual competition for aspiring young vocalists and pianists on Jan. 10, 2016. Our goal is to create a friendly competition for area high school students who want to gain performance experience and earn money to support their future musical studies.
The first round of competition will take place via recordings submitted electronically by contestants. A panel of judges will listen to these online submissions and choose the top contestants to bring to campus on January 10. This final round of competition will be held at 2 p.m. and will be open to the public. First, second and third place winners will be chosen in both the pianist and vocalist categories. Repertoire for performance should be the same as that submitted with the original application.
- Open to any Indiana high school student, ages 15–18
- Must be nominated to participate by applied music teacher or ensemble director by email recommendation to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Submit an application online. The application will be open Oct. 15 – Dec. 5, 2015, and requires two preliminary MP3 files (10MB each) of performances.
- Must submit $30 registration fee.
