Pre-Law Concentration

UIndy's concentration in pre-law is designed to help you build the necessary foundation for law school. You'll have the flexibility to choose from a variety of challenging majors, such as political science, history, philosophy, English or business, which will be complemented with undergraduate law courses. Because law schools are looking for specific courses on a student’s transcript and searching for students who show a real promise in the field, it is recommended that you take courses that will adequately prepare you for the rigors of law school. To help you in these decisions, you'll be advised by a practicing attorney who is also an assistant professor of political science.

Program strengths

  • Allows students to study a wide range of interests
  • Provides practical experience through mock trials, in which students debate real-world cases currently being heard in the U.S. Federal Courts
  • Fosters an environment that adequately prepares students to get into graduate programs
  • Coursework allows students to review previous cases, learn the outcomes and form opinions based around previous trails
