University of Indianapolis Backgrounds
Windows 95/98/NT/XP Users:
- Click the numbers that represent the resolution of
your computer screen. (If you do not know your monitor
resolution, right-click on the desktop and choose “Properties”
from the menu. Click the “Settings” tab in
the Display Properties window. Your resolution can be
found under “Desktop Area”.) This will display
a full size picture of the one you selected. (It may take
a while to download, depending on your resolution and
Internet connection speed.)
- When the full photograph appears on the screen, right-click
the photo.
- Select “Set as Wallpaper” from the list.
Some Windows operating systems will automatically transfer
the photograph to wallpaper. If the photograph does not
show up as your wallpaper, right-click the desktop and
choose “Properties”. Click the “Background”
tab and select the photograph in the wallpaper listing.
It will probably be called “Netscape Wallpaper”
or “Internet Explorer Wallpaper”.
Mac OSX Users:
- Click the numbers that represent your monitor resolution.
This will display a full size picture of the picture you
selected. If you do not know your monitor resolution,
choose System Preferences from the Apple menu and click
the Displays option in the preferences window. Click the
Display button at the top of the window. You will see
your screen resolution highlighted in the "Resolutions:"
list.
- Choose "Save as..." from the File menu and
save the image to your computer. We suggest saving the
image to the Desktop Pictures folder on your computer
(Hard Drive > Library > Desktop Pictures), but any
location will do. Make note of the location where you
are saving the file; you'll need to know in step 4.
- Open the System Preferences from the Apple menu in
the upper-left corner of your computer screen. Click the
Desktop & Screen Saver icon.
- Click the Desktop button near the top of the resulting
window. Click the Desktop Pictures folder in the left
column if you saved the image in that folder; if not,
click the Choose Folder... option instead and navigate
to the folder you saved the image in.
- Select the UIndy image you downloaded and your desktop
background will immediately change.

take a while to download, depending on your resolution
and Internet connection speed.)

a contextual menu pops up. Select “Save this Image
as” and save the picture to your computer (pay attention
