Guest Composer Concert: Stephen Rush

Admission is free to the public.

UIndy welcomes guest composer Stephen Rush from the University of Michigan, where he directs the UM Digital Music Ensemble. Prof. Rush performs his own Jazz Piano Concerto with the UIndy Jazz Ensemble, led by Mark O'Connor. Also featured: Rush's Indian-influenced "Samyama" for saxophone, violin, and piano, and his Zen-inspired "Taming the Ox" for improvising ensemble, structured by Rush's own watercolor paintings.

Echoing Air

Presented by Katz Sapper & Miller. Ruth Lilly Performance Hall, Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center

The period instrument ensemble Echoing Air explores the varied career of Scottish composer and countertenor John Abell with vocal and instrumental music of Baroque Scotland, England and Ireland. The ensemble adds the wire-strung Gaelic harp, an instrument popular in England and continental Europe, for a program featuring the music of Henry Purcell, John Blow and other Restoration composers.

Art Exhibition: Herencia

The multicultural arts organization Nopal Cultural presents this visual art exhibition showcasing work from national, international, and local artists. Herencia (the Spanish word for heritage) showcases artists who are working in themes inspired by Latin American heritage.
