Wheeler Arts Community

The Wheeler Arts Community (WAC) is the result of a unique collaboration between the University of Indianapolis and the Southeast Neighborhood Development. A component of UIndy's Community Programs Center, WAC occupies what was once an abandoned carburetor factory in the Fountain Square neighborhood, just three miles north of the UIndy campus. The building now contains 36 artist studio/loft apartments, providing housing to professional painters, sculptors, writers, musicians and dancers.

WAC is also home to the UIndy Community Arts and Education Center (CAEC), offering:

  • community theatre
  • oil painting studio
  • small gallery
  • community programs offices
  • classroom space
  • service learning and arts education programs

Location:
