Mental Health Counseling Licensure
Students who successfully complete all degree requirements for the MA in Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Counseling track, will be endorsed for examination eligibility as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate in Indiana, provided that the student has kept and filed an accurate record of his or her practicum/internship hours and experiences. The student must pass the licensing examination administered by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency to be formally licensed by the State.
Licensing in other states
Students who wish to become licensed for practice in other states will be endorsed by the University as being examination/license-eligible in that state as long as the University of Indianapolis program requirements are consistent with the educational and pre-degree practicum/internship experiences in that state. It is the responsibility of the student to obtain copies of the counseling licensing laws and necessary application materials in states (including Indiana) where they might want to practice and to understand their contents. It is recommended that students frequently check licensure requirements as state rules and regulations may change.
Finally, Verification of Education Forms that are typically included in the application packets in most states, should be sent to the Dean’s office.
